Dominican Republic Real Estate
To many, real estate in the Dominican Republic is undiscovered. It’s like a diamond in the rough just waiting to be found. This country is known around the world as a popular vacation spot and is also a great place for a second home or a place to retire. What makes the country unique is its size and variety of things to do. In many tourist destinations, boredom can set in after only a few weeks. In the DR, however, places to go and things to do are limitless. The timing is currently great for values in both rentals and sales. Although the lifestyles can be luxurious, they can also be frugal compared to other Caribbean destinations.
Sosua Real Estate
Sosua is a historical city located midway between the Puerto Plata International Airport (POP) and Cabarete. The city began as a Jewish settlement in the 1940s and was a quaint little village known for its dairy and cheese products. The Bay of Sosua is crescent shaped and lined with sandy beaches and palm trees. The bay is protected by a coral reef, which makes it a great spot for diving and fishing. In the 1980s, residential areas were replaced with tourist hotels and condominium projects along the ocean shore. New residential villas became popular in private gated communities that surround the city.
Cabarete Real Estate
Cabarete is the perfect spot for family vacations. The crescent shaped Cabarete Bay is protected by segments of coral reefs that keep the beach safe for children who like to play and body-surf in the gentle rolling waves. This protected bay is also ideal for wind surfing and kite boarding because of the consistent easterly trade winds and calm waters. The sandy beaches of Cabarete are great for long walks or sightseeing. The east side of the bay is filled with international restaurants. The rest of the bay is lined with condominium resorts with tropical gardens, infinity swimming pools and oceanfront views, all with direct access to the beach.
Cabrera Real Estate
Although Cabrera has been known as a smaller more rural community, it has now become very noteworthy because of the Amanera Resort at Playa Grande. The area around Cabrera has a variety of delightful sandy beaches and villas perched on soaring seaside cliffs. It is also surrounded by farm and ranch properties that can stretch from the ocean front to hillside vistas with panoramic ocean views. Although condominiums and villas are available, Cabrera is an excellent place to find new and secure gated communities with prime building sites.
Las Terrenas Real Estate
Las Terrenas is truly unique with its new International Airport and cliff-side road along the ocean that puts sandy beaches and a true Caribbean lifestyle only 20 minutes away from the airport. It is located on the north side of the Samana Peninsula and prime real estate can be found along the sandy beaches with coral reefs to the mountain tops with spectacular ocean views. For a metropolitan lifestyle, the capital city of Santo Domingo is only a 2-hour drive on world-class, state-of-the-art highways that pass through the Los Haitises national park.
Samana Real Estate
The city of Samana is on the south, or bay side of the Samana Peninsula. The bay is a boater’s paradise and is great for both sail boats and fisherman. The bay has relatively calm waters but also has brisk trade winds from the east for great sailing. On calmer days, the bay is great for paddle boarding. Fishing boats have direct access out to the Atlantic Ocean for the big fish. The Samana Bay is famous for whale watching and is also a great spot for tourists who want to explore the ecological sanctuaries in Los Haitises National Park.
