The best Time To Visit the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is one of the Caribbean’s most geographically diverse countries, with stunning mountain scenery, desert scrub-lands, evocative colonial architecture and beaches galore. Many of us are very fortunate to call this paradise our home, for others this is a staple vacation destination and a lost heaven to be discovered.

Visiting the DR is an ease and a pleasure, either for recreational time or maybe as an future investment interest. This diverse Island offers a fantastic combination of environments to capture your imagination and refresh the soul. And with eight international airports, paradise has never been easier to explore.

The best time to visit the Dominican Republic for many reasons is during the low season if you wish to find good deals on airfare and accommodations. The low season for traveling to the Dominican Republic is the summer months. The busy time when it may be hard to find flights is during December until April.

The prices during the high season are often quite a bit different from want you will see for the summer months, due to the high volume of visitors. In fact, you may have to make reservations at least one month in advance to even find accommodations. If you are looking for good prices then you will want to travel to the Dominican Republic during the summer months from May to October.

A trip to the Dominican Republic may be slightly more expensive in the peak season, but it can be worth the price for the atmosphere, especially if you are planning a Dominican Republic vacation to one of the smaller cities.

In general, though, there is no bad time for a DR vacation. As any DR travel guide will tell you, the island’s Caribbean climate is mild and pleasant year-round. Average temperatures in the Dominican Republic are always pleasant, ranging from the high 70s Fahrenheit (mid-20s Celsius) in the winter to the high 80s Fahrenheit (low 30s Celsius) in the summer. Hurricane season in the Caribbean runs from June to November and is at its height during September and October. Travelers may be wary about booking travel to the Dominican Republic during these months, but DR tourism is less affected by the threat of hurricanes than that of other Caribbean countries.

May to December is known as the wet season on Hispaniola, but vacationers should not be put off from booking travel to the Dominican Republic during these months. Rainfall in the DR is usually reliably brief and welcome and invariably followed by a drying sun. During the summer, the best places to be are on the Dominican Republic’s beaches or by a pool, ready to cool off from the hot summer sun.
